Rather than following the format of a traditional persuasive essay, Chloe has adapted the genre to create her own personal spin - a hybrid narrative/persuasive piece. Listen in on an imagined conversation between a married couple about to have their first child. You'll find all of the elements of a persuasive essay tucked into this creative format.
"I wonder if our baby is going to be a girl or a boy? I love surprises but it is so intimidating! Should we wait to find out whether our baby is a boy or girl? If we find out now, we can buy him or her all the needed baby stuff beforehand. This is such a hard decision! Honey, what do you think?"
"I think YES, we should find out if it's a boy or girl."
Knowing if your child is a boy or girl beforehand can make life so much easier. The parents can start getting clothes and other items for their baby, the parents will have months to think about a name to pick, and it will be a chance to plan and think about raising a girl or a boy.
"Honey, I am so glad we found out that our baby was a girl beforehand. Now we know that we can start buying stuff for our daughter now. I've already started picking out clothes and crib. And you, John, are going to paint her room pink on Sunday. Susan and I are going to get her toys and clothes tomorrow, and her flowered crib arrives tomorrow."
"Wow, good job, darling. What about her name?"
"Okay, sweetie, I thought about what you said. Turns out that we can start naming her now since we know we're having a girl. We have nine whole months to decide on her name, which is a really good thing since deciding on a name is such a huge process. Let's see, we have Amy, Lilly, Ali, Daphe, Sky, Kim, Maya, Sam, Noa, Ana, Kate ..."
"Hey, hey, hey, what about my favorite, Natalie?"
"You know what? I like Natalie! Gee, I guess that knowing we're having a girl ahead of time makes our life a lot less stressful. Just having a baby is a big surprise, but knowing if the baby is a boy or girl ahead of time really cut down on the biggest surprise ever. Now we know what to think, and we can really get ready to have a daughter. Do you agree?"
"You know what? I do!"
What a happy couple! You can be that happy too. I'm not advertising here or trying to sell something. I'm looking out for you! Find out if you're having a boy or girl ahead of time. (wink)
