Union Square Greenmarket Field Trip

What: We will be taking a guided tour of the farmers' market, meeting some of the local farmers, and tasting some of the seasonal produce. The trip will reinforce concepts like seasonality, local agriculture, and the commercial aspects of growing food crops. The trip will also enhance our current mathematics micro-unit about money concepts.
When: Friday, October 15th, from ~10:00 am to ~ 1:00 pm.
Transportation: We will take the subway to spare the children a rather long walk. We will take the C/E train to 14th Street and then transfer to the L train to Union Square.
Lunch: Students may bring their own lunches, or a bagged school lunch will be provided upon request. Weather permitting, we will picnic near the Greenmarket.
Chaperones: I would appreciate at least two parent chaperones to help with the trip. (We will also be accompanied by Ms. Pomponio, our student teacher, and Ms. Camtu, our NYU intern.) Chaperones, please arrive at school by 9:55 and please wait in the front lobby for us. We will try to be ready to leave by 10:00.
Cost: The trip costs $1 per student. (The total cost of the tour is $25.) The price includes a guided tour as well as samples in the market.
Please dress your child in appropriate attire to spend several hours outdoors on the day of the trip.
I will post photos from the trip in our photo gallery shortly after the trip, so stay tuned!
