Now, everybody thinks Ellis Island is just a bunch of baloney but Ellis Island is a historical landmark and a special place to some immigrants. Ellis Island used to be an immigration station for immigrants that came from different countries. It was an immigration station from 1892 to 1954.
Yesterday we had so much fun at Ellis Island. My "family" and I (friends,) got to see one of my friend's ancestors on the Immigrant Wall outside. We had a lot of fun playing outside. We could see the Hudson River and the dock. Ellis Island is still a great place and I recommend that people go visit!

Our class trip to the Whitney was awesome! We really met Jeff Koons! We saw his gold balloon dog but it was really made of metal! One of my classmates, Anders, asked Jeff if he tries to trick people with his art,he said"No, I don't". We also saw his giant metal play do mountain, a purple heart hanging on metal thread and half of a pink balloon, and the last thing in that room was a painting of a cake. There are many balloon dogs in different colors for instance orange, red, back and so on. Well that's mostly it!
The tradition of the vocabulary parade is in just 3 weeks! Start creating fabulous and unique costumes for Halloween and the costumes should be better than the store bought costumes.
So this afternoon, Mrs. Zimmerman read us a book called "Miss Aleineus" that inspired the original vocabulary parade at Chelsea Prep. This is going to be the sixth annual vocabulary parade. The book was about a girl named Sage who thought that the vocabulary word on her list meant the cover of the spaghetti box. The book was spectacular, especially the part when her mother said, "Every mistake has gold in it," and then Sage literally gets a trophy made of gold because of her mistake-inspired costume. After Mrs. Zimmerman read us the book, she told us about the vocabulary parade. Not only did she tell us about it, she also put a Vocabulary Parade planning sheet in every person's mailbox. Emily: "I think the vocabulary parade might be fun!" Darby: "I think it's it's going to be really fun because I've never done this before. It'll be a new opportunity to do something besides the traditions at my old school." Sabrina: "The book also teaches a lesson. Her mom meant that we can learn from our mistakes, and our mistakes can actually be good!" |
