Master Christopher Jones' Visit from Plimoth Plantation, 10/3/11

Plymouth Rock
A costumed interpreter visited us from the living history museum Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, MA. Our visitor was in character as Master Christopher Jones, the captain ("master") of the Mayflower. He taught our class all about the 1622 voyage of the Mayflower, as well as other interesting information about the Pilgrims and seventeenth century maritime history. The 344 historians held a Wampanoag beaver pelt, an old fashioned compass, and a necklace used for trading with the Native Americans. Three students were also chosen to model seventeenth century children's fashion. Here is a photo and video slideshow of the visit.
