Our September Poems: Where Poetry Hides

Picture
We have begun looking at the world with poet's eyes, and we're amazed at all the surprising places where poetry can hide.  Enjoy reading our first poetic efforts!

Where Poetry Hides
By Alijah

Poetry hides
in the blood in our veins,
deep into galaxies,
and in shark teeth.
Poetry hides
in the dark knight’s helmet,
the blue sky clouds.
Poetry hides
in skeleton’s sneers,
smiles and my cousin’s
snores.
Poetry hides
in the deep dark blue sea,
bulls and bulldozers.
Poetry hides
in our voices,
heartbeats and deep
inside our brains.

Where Poetry Hides
By Alvin

Poetry hides in sea monster’s oceans.
Poetry hides in a thousand diapers.
Poetry hides in traffic.
Poetry hides behind the letter O.
Poetry hides in the mud that made me muddy.
Poetry hides in a horse’s mouth.
And poetry runs around our planet Earth.

Where Poetry Hides
By Ben

Poetry hides in the earth
around and on the tip of
the Moon.
Poetry hides
in the bubbled water
bath tubs and next to
your clean body.
Poetry hides
in your short black hair
and on the fangs of a bat
Poetry hides
in your white, black
folder.

Where Poetry Hides
By Brendan

Poetry hides
under a building,
in small rocks
and poetry hides by the
computer.
Poetry hides
underground
below the soil.
Poetry hides in a
tiger shark’s belly,
under the sea
and in a tomato.
Poetry hides under a
toad’s belly.
Poetry hides
above the sky.
Poetry hides
in an apple and
a yo-yo.

Where Poetry Hides
By Catherine

Poetry hides in a
jellyfish’s tentacles:
Have you noticed
them bursting with
poetry?
Poetry hides on a piece
of paper, on the tip
of a pencil too.
In the rays of sunlight,
and the sun-baked desert,
the waves are with poetry,
thrashing about.
Poetry hides deep in our hearts,
flowing through our blood.
Poetry is in our shadow, patiently
waiting for us to use it.

Where Poetry Hides
By Colin

Poetry hides in
crocodile bodies
and in dinosaur skulls.
Poetry hides in
orca tongues.
Poetry hides
in shark tails
and in dinosaurs
bones.
Poetry hides
in stones,
and eels.

Where Poetry Hides
By George

Poetry hides in
letters in envelopes.
Poetry hides in the
roots of plants and trees.
Poetry hides
inside a book’s covers.
Poetry hides in a
sharpener.

Where Poetry Hides
By Jon

Poetry hides
in our bodies,
in math,
and in potions.
Poetry hides
in the paint
of your art,
the words
of your book,
and in the
World.

Where Poetry Hides
By Joseph

Poetry hides
in junkyards,
inside the Lincoln Tunnel,
in diapers and toilets.

Poetry hides in traffic jams,
in chicken feet,
and inside a pig’s ear.

Poetry hides
in muddy faces.

Where Poetry Hides
By Julia

Poetry hides in
books and trees.
Poetry hides in
cars and eels.
Poetry hides in
glue sticks and muddy faces.
Poetry hides on
top of tables.

Where Poetry Hides
By Junhao

Poetry hides at
the bottom of a volcano.
Poetry hides
in lots of computers,
in the deep, deep, cold
Atlantic Ocean,
and the top of the
Empire State Building.

Where Poetry Hides
By Keo

Poetry hides in the houses of Gods.
Poetry hides in the center of the Earth
and on helicopters.
Poetry hides in the “beep, beep,”
in seconds,
and noise making persons.
Poetry hides in a lantern.

Where Poetry Hides
By Lara

Poetry hides in the snow
with the snowflakes
and a cold kiss from Santa.
Poetry hides at the top of the mountains
with the birds
so it’s fresh-clean.
Poetry hides in the mail
so you get surprises.
Poetry hides in names
so you are writing
with ideas.
Poetry hides in spells
so you are poets
with spelling witches.

Where Poetry Hides
By Lauren

Poetry hides in
breezy trees and
underground where
nobody can find it.

Poetry hides
inside blooming
flowers.

Where Poetry Hides
By Leo

Poetry hides
in Rome and
tick-tock clocks and
mosquitoes that give
you little bites that
really hurt.
Poetry hides
in stinky pigs and
chickens that live in
muddy twigs.

Where Poetry Hides
By Linnea

Poetry hides
under a bed
on top of a light
under a pile of books
on top of a shelf
in a tomato plant.

Poetry hides
in a brown box
a pile of soil
in greenhouses
in a cubby
in your clothes.

Where Poetry Hides
By Mia

It hides
in a party
at Halloween
and below the
bottom
of the sea.
Poetry hides
in a
flower,
in a
book,
in your
hand.

Where Poetry Hides
By Rowan

Poetry hides in
ice cream, coffee and snack.

Poetry hides in
bugs and butterflies.

Poetry hides
buses and trains.
