November Poetry

Picture
The students chose one poem that they wrote in November to "publish."  They've created artwork to accompany their poems that are hanging in the hallway.  You can read their poems below.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Alijah

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel vegetables, braces, and all diseases.
If I were in charge of the world
there would be flying black horses,
magic in all New York City,
and super agent sea creatures.

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel bedtime, nightmares, and death.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be a sundae ice cream park,
angels in our world,
and no gravity.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Alvin

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel schools
(except fun schools),
there would be no diapers,
no name calling, and no farts.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be crazy people,
coo-coo people, fun games,
and 3 hours for recess.
If I were in charge of the world
there would be babies going to school.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Benjamin

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel coaches, money,
and 1 year old babies
and just have them go straight to kids.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be no school
and there would be no pink.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be candy for
breakfast, dinner, lunch, and even brunch.

If I were in charge of the world
cheetahs and leopards would be pets.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Brendan

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel homework, bread and math.
There would be a robot that does what I say.
There would be lots of ice cream and fruits,
 cool drinks, bubble gum,
toys and computer games.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Catherine

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel super long school days,
headaches, mean bully boys,
and my stomach ache.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be more respect for girls,
and girls would be able to do anything that boys can do.
Everything would be like the Medieval times.

If I were in charge of the world
there would not be TV’s,
iPhones, iTouches, and computer games.
There only would be
DSI’S, iPods, computers, and books.
There would be no anger,
sadness, confusion, and embarrassment,
there would be no getting in trouble.

If I were in charge of the world
There would be make-believe creatures
flying and walking in the moonlight.
There would be people who have magical powers,
all of the things kids like,
and more libraries than electronic stores.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Colin

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel heads.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be red flying horses
and it would rain soccer balls,

There would be secret agent tiger sharks,
and you could ride on great white sharks.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Cynari

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel all pencils being broken.
If I were in charge of the world
I would make it rain ice cream everyday.
If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel all bathroom words and sweets.
I’d also cancel people being sick.
If I were in charge of the world
there would be no such thing as fighting.
If I were in charge of the world
I would make extended day for everyone!

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Jon

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel marrying when you’re big,
pencils, and changing you color in school.

If I were in charge of the world
evolution would change faster,
we could have free choice time all day long,
and have more homework!

An Ode to Chicken
By Joseph

Oh dear chicken,
I will gobble you up.
Your skin so small,
so fresh, like fried dumplings.
When I see your crispiness
it makes me think you are a turkey!
You are like mashed potatoes
on Thanksgiving!

An Ode to Ice Cream
By Julia

Oh ice cream,
you are so creamy and melty
because of the sun!
Your sprinkles are like
a rainbow of happiness.
Your cone is so sweet
like chocolate balls filled with
sweet melted chocolate.
I will eat your sprinkles!

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Junhao

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel schools, vegetables, and fruits.

If I were in charge of the world
I would have all of the Xbox360,
DSI’s, comic books, and computers that I wanted.
There would be TV and recess every hour of the day.

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel division, chapter books, and tests.
I would cancel rain.

If I were in charge of the world
I would have skateboards,
movies, dragons, fighting robots,
and lots of helicopters.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Keo

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel all girls, squash, and all diseases.

If I were in charge of the world
there would be candy rain,
chickens with no heads,
and I will get everything free for me!

If I were in charge of the world
you wouldn’t have bad guys,
you wouldn’t have bedtimes,
you wouldn’t have math,
or toxic air.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Lara

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel babies crying,
scary ghost stories,
getting sick, and dying.

If I were in charge of the world
There would be magic, animals could talk,
schools would have a ruler,
and girls could fight back in Medieval times!
Kids could be the agent of their family.

Thinking
By Lauren

I am locked in
Stuck in it forever
I cannot get out
Because I am useless
I can not

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Leo

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel time outs,
working on your homework (except math),
and bed bugs!

If I were in charge of the world
there would be no flu shots,
no kicking in the stomach in soccer
(so if you do you’re going to get a red card,
in real soccer,
I mean in the World Cup,
I am serious!).

If I were in charge of the world
there would be no fighting,
there would always be peace in the world,
no one could interrupt your sentence.
There would be no death.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Linnea

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel work so that my mom could stay home,
and the letter G.
If I were in charge of the world
everyday would be candy day
and there would never be night.

If I Were in Charge of the World
By Mia

If I were in charge of the world
I would let everyone get to make their own pet,
let them ride it, and pet it.

If I were in charge of the world
I would cancel homework,
oatmeal, and the letter L.

If I were in charge of the world
I would let everyone play video games.
and pink would be illegal.
I would cancel a quarter,
but I would not cancel,
Leo, Ben, George, Mia, Lara, Catherine, and teachers.
And I would not cancel the rest of my class!

An Ode to Starburst
By Polina

Oh Starburst,
you taste so scrumptious!
You are so tasty and sweet.
Oh sweetie pie,
you are so square and yet colorful.
You smell so good.
You remind me of Halloween.
Every time I get you for Halloween,
I just want to gobble you up!

Ode to Cupcakes
By Rowan

Oh little red velvet sweetie,
your red bumpy frosting,
your smooth cake.
You have a chocolate, delicious cake.
You are so sweet and fluffy.
I do not like your wrapper though.
Oh, you are so soft,
except for your wrapper.
You always come to birthday parties.
