Math Matters

At Chelsea Prep, we use the Everyday Math program for mathematics instruction. The research-based program is proven to build students' mathematical knowledge with an emphasis on higher-order thinking and problem solving. Third graders focus on fact families in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They continue to develop strategies for multi-digit addition and subtraction problems. Learning multiplication facts through the 10's is a goal this year. Students continue to study geometry, measurement, telling time, and fractions, among other skills.
I will post math resources to this section throughout the year to help build the home-school connection in your child's math education. Please let me know if you there are particular resources that you would be helpful for you.
We made "movies" about addition and subtraction number stories that we wrote, designed, and created on our own. Watch our number story movies here.
Click here to view a list of math links that will be useful for third grade students. I will try to keep the list updated with relevant internet games and other resources.
Visit the Math Resources page to download helpful worksheets like blank multiplication tables, practice problems, flashcards, and more.
Teachers, visit my section with math resources for third grade teachers to download. I'm happy to share what I have so we all can work a little smarter, and a little less hard.
