Our Fishing Trip, June 16, 2011
We had a magical day at the Christopher Street Pier. Thank you I-Fish-NY and Officer Lum of the EPA for helping us with our fishing. When we first arrived at the pier, the students read for almost 45 minutes laying on the grass while other classes were fishing. We had a relaxing picnic lunch, and we got to watch a NYFD fireboat test their water cannons, which was incredible. Finally, it was our turn to fish! The students were so amazingly patient, and they fished for over an hour. Our group caught one fish, a very impressive eel, a handful of baby mussels, and plenty of seaweed. However, based on all of the disappearing bait, we know that there were plenty of big ones down there just teasing our hooks. Finally, we walked back to school in the Hudson River Park.
