American Museum of Natural History Field Trip, 3/3/2011
What a fantastic trip! We spent time at three different exhibits. We started by looking at North American flora and fauna to help the North America research group. We spent some time analyzing a large map that showed the distribution of North American forests. Then we moved on the Hall of Meteorites. The students were so incredibly excited to learn about these fascinating celestial phenomena, and I was so proud to watch them do so much independent learning by reading and discussing all of the information in the room among themselves. Finally, we paid a quick visit to the Hall of Gems and Minerals, where the students discussed the characteristics they were able to observe of various minerals. However, if you ask the students, many of them will tell you that the highlight of the day was "recess" in the Diana Ross Playground in Central Park.
