Our Class Read-Aloud Bookshelf
If there's one thing we can say about every student in our class, it's that we LOVE books! We read every single day, throughout the day, and we can't even imagine a day without reading. (That would be just too sad!)
We read for every subject, and we often share multiple read-alouds throughout the day. (That's when Mrs. Zimmerman reads to the entire class.) However, one very special part of the day is when Mrs. Zimmerman reads to the class simply for the enjoyment of a great novel. This isn't part of Reader's Workshop, it isn't tied to a mini-lesson or a strategy study. We listen to a wonderful read aloud to build our classroom community. It is also one of our favorite parts of the day. We gather around close, find cozy listening spots, and settle in for a chapter or two. This is also how the students in our class get started on some of their favorite series.
Here on our "virtual bookshelf," you can take a peek at some of the books Mrs. Zimmerman has read out loud to the class. In class we also keep a class book log of all of our read-aloud books, the dates we read them, and our class rating. This shelf isn't to serve that purpose. We simply want to let our family and friends know about some of the books we're reading. We like scouring the bookshelves in our classroom, library, and at book stores, and we thought you'd enjoy a look at our bookshelf too. Happy browsing!
